| Cat. no. AP-10 The ArabiPatch is our very own
high-density, seed-to-seed growing and
subirrigation system specifically designed for
Arabidopsis thaliana. The ArabiPatch includes 8
disposible cartridge pots (E) with detachable
tube stakes (F). The ready-to-use cartridge pots
are loaded with a reliable, growing
medium containing a complete slow-release
fertilizer. An efficient subirrigation system
consists of a water reservoir (A) and pot
platform box (C). A platform box pad (D)
distributes water evenly to wicks protruding from
the bottom of each cartridge pot. Water moves
continuously from the reservoir to the platform
box pad via the reservoir wick (B). By this
simple and efficient design, the subirrigation
system maintains ideal medium moisture automatically in a small, 4 x 4
in (10.1 x 10.1
cm) space while supporting cartridge pots above.
Convenient labels are included for pot and
planting identification. The durable, hard
plastic subirrigation reservoir (A) is available
in 10 transparent colors for organizing lab
projects and members. The default color is dark red.
The new Tall ArabiPatch has longer (44.5 cm) tube stakes
than the original ArabiPatch which has 30.5 cm long tube
stakes. Otherwise, the models are the same. There
is less inflorescence overgrowth past the top end of a Tall
tube stake. This means less time spent
hand pruning any overgrowth. The total height of a fully
configured ArabiPatch fitted with the regular tube
stakes is 19.5 in (49.53 cm) and 25 in (63.5 cm) when fitted
with the tall tube stakes.
At the end of each growth cycle, simply
discard the used cartridge pots, the platform box
pad and reservoir wick and replace them with new
pots and wicks available from LEHLE SEEDS. For
those who prefer to use their own growing medium,
the ArabiPatch and replacement Cartridge Pots can
be purchased without medium.
